Services

Notary interpreting at a fixed price

In order to provide you with a binding quote, we need the draft purchase agreement or other draft document for your notary appointment. Whether it is a real estate purchase agreement, a prenuptial agreement, a company formation or another notarial matter, our experienced team will be happy to assist you professionally.
Bilingual simultaneous rendition during the reading of the document is available on request.

Bank interpreting

Different banks have different requirements for customers who do not have sufficient command of German. Some require an interpreter to be present in person when agreements are signed, while others only ask for a certificate confirming that interpreting services were provided. In either case, we can help - always at a fixed price agreed in advance.

Court interpreting

As officially appointed and sworn interpreters, we are authorized to attend court hearings and appointments with other public authorities. These assignments are generally not offered at a flat rate, but billed in accordance with the JVEG. In most cases, the court appoints the interpreter.

Frequently Asked Questions about Notary Interpreting

Do I need an interpreter for a notary appointment?

If you cannot fully understand the contents of the document in German, many notaries will require an interpreter to be present. The notary decides whether your German is sufficient.

Are your interpreters state-certified and officially sworn?

Yes. All interpreters arranged through notary-interpreting.org are state-certified and officially sworn.

How much does an interpreter cost for a notary appointment?

The price mainly depends on the preparation involved, travel time and the duration of the appointment. For English-language notary appointments, the fixed price is usually between 420,00 and 530,00 EUR including VAT. These fees are based on the standard rates set out in JVEG. Fees for other languages are often higher, as both preparation and the interpretation during the notary appointment tends to require more time.

What are the JVEG standard hourly rates?

The so-called Justizvergütungs- und -entschädigungsgesetz, or JVEG (The law regulating the reimbursement for experts and interpreters in the legal system), determines the standard rates for interpreters working in court or with the authorities. The standard hourly rate is 110,67 EUR incl. VAT, whereas the law states that this rate is also to be applied to preparation and travel times.

What is included in the price for notary interpreting?

The price generally includes careful preparation based on the draft document, travel time and interpreting during the notarization itself. That way, you receive a clear fixed-price quote before the appointment. A content review of your contract is also available on request.

How short notice can I book an interpreter for a notary appointment?

Short-notice appointments are often possible. Ideally, however, the interpreter should be booked around 14 days before the intended appointment. If you email us the draft document, the language combination, and the date/time and location of the appointment, we will do our best to find a solution even at short notice.

Do you only interpret for real estate purchase agreements?

No. Interpreting assignments are also possible for powers of attorney, gifts, company formation documents, inheritance matters, marriage contracts and many other notarial documents.

Frequently Asked Questions about Bank Interpreting

What is an interpreter's confirmation for the bank?

Some banks require customers who do not have sufficient German skills to provide confirmation that the contents of a loan contract were fully interpreted and understood. We can often provide this interpreting certificate at short notice, although a 20% surcharge applies if less than 48 hours' notice is given.

How much does an interpreter's confirmation for the bank cost?

An interpreter's confirmation is usually available from us from 59 EUR including VAT. This includes a 30-minute online meeting. A 20% express surcharge applies if you need the certificate in less than 48 hours.

How much does in-person bank interpreting for signing a loan agreement cost?

For bank appointments within the Munich city area, interpreting at the signing of the loan agreement costs 239 EUR including VAT. For appointments in other Bavarian towns and communities, the fee increases by the extra travel time required.

Is bank interpreting also available online?

Yes. If the bank accepts an interpreting certificate, the discussion of the contract can be done online.

Other Questions:

Which languages do you offer for notary interpreting?

In addition to English, we also offer support in Italian, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese, Ukrainian and Russian. Other languages are available on request.

Do you only work in Munich, or also in other Bavarian towns and cities?

We handle appointments throughout Bavaria. Although most appointments take place in Munich, members of our team have also worked in notary appointments in Bad Aibling, Rosenheim, Freising, Ebersberg, Augsburg, Nuremberg, Greifenberg, Garmisch-Partenkirchen and many other Bavarian towns and communities.

Do you offer other types of interpreting as well?

Yes. Although notardolmetschen.de primarily focuses on notary appointments, bank interpreting and court interpreting, all partners in the firm and all external partners are experienced interpreters, many of them with hundreds of hours of professional experience in areas such as conference interpreting, simultaneous interpreting, wedding interpreting, business interpreting and more. Feel free to contact us with any type of interpreting enquiry and we will find a solution for you.
